Dry Eye WA - Eyelid and Tear Health Specialists

Dry Eye Syndrome can be the result of either blepharitis or MGD

Dry eye is the generic term for the discomfort felt when the eye either produces too little tears or the tears evaporate from the eye surface too rapidly. People who suffer from dry eyes can experience red eyes, burning or grittiness and the pain then induces the wateriness that can cause confusion leading to a common question "How can my eyes be dry when they are always watering?"

Blepharitis is where the eyelids can be red, swollen itchy, flakey scaley or crusty

Blepharitis is an inflammatory disease of the eyelids affecting people of all ages, but more common in older age groups. It usually affects the eyelid margins making the eyes feel sore and gritty, and can recur regularly or become chronic.

Meibomian Gland Dysfunction  (MGD) when the glands behind the eyelids produce insufficient quantities or poor quality of protective oil over the tears

MGD is chronic and progressive but can be treated and the progression slowed. Most people who have been diagnosed with dry eye have tried the first line of treatment (lubricating eye drops), but when the relief is short-lived and the dryness becomes more pervasive, that's where we can help.

Aqueous Deficient Dry Eye both Sjogrens and non-Sjogrens drye eye can now be treated.

If you "dry cry" and can't produce tears, or have a low tear production, there is a new treatment available. Not merely eye drops and ointments.

If you have been suffering from these symptoms or have found the issue is recurring, then you need to talk to us.

At Dry Eye WA we can treat these symptoms. Call us for an appointment on 6468 5296 or book your appointment.
